John is a partner with the firm. He enjoys a statewide practice principally advising municipal and private clients on issues of municipal law, land use, eminent domain, zoning and utility law, as well as litigation and appellate matters. He has extensive trial and appellate experience. John serves as Berlin City Attorney, and is legal counsel to the Towns of Alexandria, Brentwood, Epping, Peterborough, and Plymouth. John advised the Town of Newington in conjunction with the Newington Energy, LLC, a combined cycle, gas-fired electric generating plant that has been reviewed and approved by the State Energy Facility Site and Evaluation Committee. He recently performed similar legal counsel work for the Town of Londonderry regarding the AES Londonderry electric generating facility now under construction. John advises a wide variety of private and municipal clients on water utility and water rights issues. John was legal counsel to the Town of Hudson when it undertook the first successful municipalization of a utility pursuant to NH RSA Chapter 38 (Southern N.H. Water Company, at a purchase price of over $30 million).

John's private sector work includes advising property developers and landowners on proceedings before municipal planning and zoning boards; current use taxation; and, environmental issues, including sand and gravel excavation and water rights.

John was born in White Plains, New York. He received his law degree from Suffolk University in 1984, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Holy Cross in 1979. Prior to joining Donahue, Tucker & Ciandella, John's practice experience included: law clerk to the Chief Justice of the Rhode Island Supreme Court; staff attorney with the Court; attorney, Public Defender's Office, Providence, Rhode Island; assistant municipal counsel to the Town of Salem, New Hampshire; and in-house legal counsel to the Town of Hudson, New Hampshire. John has served as Chairman of the New Hampshire Bar Association Section on Municipal and Government Law, and is a regular speaker at legal and continuing education seminars to members of the New Hampshire Bar, government officials and to land owners and developers. John is admitted to practice in New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Massachusetts, as well as the United States Federal District Court Bar for the Districts of Rhode Island, Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
