Attorney Doug Mansfield joined the firm in June 2002. His practice focuses on employment/labor law and business law, as well as veterinary medical law, and legal issues surrounding the internet.
Attorney Mansfield has been practicing law since 1990 and is the chair of the firm's Business Practice Group and a member of its Employment and Labor Law Practice Group.
Doug grew up in Stratham, attended Exeter High School and graduated from the University of New Hampshire. He received his J.D. degree from Albany Law School of Union University in 1990. Upon graduation and admission to the New York and New Hampshire bars, Attorney Mansfield began work as an Assistant Corporation Counsel with the New York City Law Department in Manhattan. In his practice with the New York City Attorney's office, he handled several high profile cases prosecuting cases on behalf of the City in criminal and civil court. In the latter part of his career with the City of New York, Attorney Mansfield became a member of the commercial litigation division, defending the City of New York on various business interest disputes in federal and state courts.
In December 1994, Doug was asked to become General Counsel to the newly created Center for Animal Care and Control, Inc., which was responsible for providing animal control and rescue services to the City of New York. As chief lawyer, he was responsible for managing all legal affairs for this 10 million-dollar budget, 200 employee, organization. Attorney Mansfield's focus was on employment/labor, corporate and contracts issues. In addition to running the legal affairs for the company, he interacted with various City agencies on a wide variety of municipal matters, including labor negotiations, contract negotiations, legislation and criminal enforcement. Doug received the 1997 New York State Humane Association's Humane Law Enforcement Award. In June of 2002 Doug returned to the Seacoast area of New Hampshire.
Doug is admitted to the bars in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and New York. He is admitted to practice in the United States District Court for New Hampshire and the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, as well as the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Corporate Counsel Association, the Rockingham County Bar Association, and the American Veterinary Medical Law Association.
In addition, Attorney Mansfield is a member of New Hampshire Bar Association's Employment Labor Law Committee.
